A video analytics project should turn that question into a clear camera rule, then provide an event that staff can review and handle under the property’s own procedures.

Where the camera is installed

Suitable locations include elevator lobbies, elevator-car entrances, garage access points, corridors, and building entrances. The view should show enough of the vehicle before it passes the control boundary. In narrow spaces, test carts, wheelchairs, delivery items, people walking beside a vehicle, and different e-bike styles to avoid treating every moving object as the same event.

Handling the event

The system can keep local evidence, issue a configured audio reminder, or send an event to a property platform. Integration with access control or elevator equipment needs separate confirmation with the system owners. The video rule is an operational aid. It does not assess battery condition, charging status, or elevator mechanical safety.

A practical acceptance plan

The acceptance plan should include daytime and nighttime samples, real vehicle approaches, short pass-through cases, boundary accuracy, event delay, repeat-alert interval, review responsibility, and exception handling. This is more useful than accepting the system on a single demonstration clip.

The event needs a clear definition: an e-bike or battery-related object entering a defined elevator or passage area, with a reviewable image that helps staff identify the relevant time and camera.

Use a view that shows the entry movement

The camera should capture the elevator door or controlled passage, the approach path, and enough floor area to show whether an object crossed into the defined zone. A view aimed only at the cabin interior or a distant corridor may not provide the movement context needed for a reliable rule.

Define object and zone behaviour together

The project should agree whether it is checking e-bikes, scooters, batteries, or related carrying behaviour, and whether the event begins at the lobby line, door threshold, or cabin zone. Direction and dwell settings help distinguish a person passing the door from an object being taken into the controlled space.

Handle records with care

Event handling should follow the building privacy policy. Limit access to the necessary staff, record the camera and time, and retain only the evidence required for the incident or management workflow. Camera names and building locations should be consistent across the site.

Validate common difficult scenes

Test crowded lift lobbies, folded or partially covered vehicles, prams, trolleys, mobility aids, lighting changes, and door movement. The objective is to document where the visible evidence is sufficient and where human review remains necessary.
